Town of Maglij

The town of Maglij (Stara Zagora District) is located in South-Eastern Bulgaria and is center of Maglij Municipality. It is situated 25km North from city of Stara Zagora. The town is known since XIII c. and is mentioned in the Ottoman documents from 1676. At a distance of 2,5 km from the town is located the Maglij monastery.

Landmarks: extensive exhibit of the minerals found in Bulgaria; the Saint Dimiter Church, acknowledged as an important monument of culture; Maglizh Monastery, founded in 12-13th century, located north-west to the town.
The historical and cultural sites of Maglizh, combined with the picturesque routes in the nearby mountains and the natural mineral springs represent an excellent foundation for the development of tourism.
