Pirdop is small sub-Balkan town located in the Zlatitsa-Pirdop valley (Sofia district), between Stara Planina to the north and Sredna Gora to the south at 680 meters above the sea level. The town is situated on the main highway and railway Sofia – Karlovo – Bourgas, 77 km east of Sofia, 27 km south of Etropole, 32 km north of Panagiurishte and 32 km northwest of Koprivshtitsa. The mild and healthy climate attracts tourists and people on holiday. According to the statistics, only day or two are foggy here and the blanket of snow lasts 25-30 days a year. However, in the coldest month - January, the average temperature is above 0oC. The territory of the present town of Pirdop has been inhabited for more than 6000 years.
