Its border falls on the southern slopes of the Balkan Range, and its southern border - on the northern slopes of Sredna Gora Mountain. Its closeness to the capital city and Plovdiv city and the convenient connection to the northern and southern parts of Bulgaria by means of the Sofia - Bourgas railway line and main road Е - 871 Sofia - Karlovo - Bourgas make the location of the Municipality favorable for communication. The Municipality consists of 11 villages and municipal center of is Village of Mirkovo. The natural resources of Mirkovo Municipality are favorable for development of mountain routes hiking, hunting and rural tourism. The prerequisites are: the beauty of the Balkan Range and Sredna Gora mountains; Aramliets hunting unit; the fish farms in Benkovski village; the stocked with fish micro-dam lakes Kamenna Mogila and Smolsko; several mountain huts and hotels.
