Koprivshtitsa municipality is located in South-West Bulgaria in Sofia District.
The Municipality consists of 1 town - Koprivshitsa. It is an
architectural and historical reserve, a mountain resort and a tourist centre.
The town is situated in a high hollow in Sashtinska Sredna Gora Mountain, along
the two banks of the Topolnitsa River. It is at an altitude of 1,100 meters
above sea level. The main road Sofia - Bourgas passes 14 km away from the town.
The town is situated at the
distance
of 110 km south-east of Sofia and
80 km north-west of Plovdiv. The
railway station Koprivshtitsa is part of the sub-Balkan line.
Koprivshtica municipality famous for its propitious
and beneficial climate. The hollow, which Koprivshtitsa is situated in, is
surrounded by nine peaks, named after saints. The highest peaks of Sredna Gora
Mountain, Bogdan peak (1,604 meters high) and Bunay Peak soar above
Koprivshtitsa. The town is a
point of departure for many tourist trips and eco-tracks. The tourist route to
Bogdan Peak has been marked. There are routes to Barikadite Chalet, Srednogorets
Chalet and others. There are a lots of monuments of culture on the teritory
of Koprivshitsa.
