The Dolna banya municipality is located in South-West Bulgaria in Sofia District. The Municipality consists only of town of Dolna Banya. It is situated along the right bank of the Maritsa River. To the south it is enclosed by the northern slopes of Rila Mountain, and to the north it reaches the foot of the Septemvrijski elevation. The soft and sound mountainous climate, the clean air, the availability of mineral springs have made Dolna Banya a balneo resort. The climate has a pronounced healing effect for cardio-vascular, non-specific breathing and other socially significant diseases. The town is at an equal distance from Sofia and Plovdiv; therefore it has fast and convenient transport. It is at 8 km distance from Kostenets railway station. Dolna Banya is crossed by the road Plovdiv - Doupnitsa - Koulata via Borovets (19 km) and Samokov. A main strategic objective of Dolna Banya Municipality is the town to develop and make a center of recreational and balneology tourism, sports, relaxation and entertainment.
