Treklyano municipality is located in South-West Bulgaria in Kyustendil District - 40 km to the northwest of the District Center town of Kyustendil, immediately next to the Bulgaria - Serbia and Montenegro border. To the northeast it borders on Trun Municipality and Zemen Municipality of Pernik District. The Municipality consists of 19 villages with regional center village of Treklyano.
The Municipality Treklyano is known as place with clean environment, high-mountainous relief, the average altitude above sea level is 1,200 - 1,300 m; the climate is moderate continental with large volume of precipitation. There is a wide variety of bird species, as well as wild boar, roe and deer, wolves, foxes and hares. Tourism has not been developed, however there is good potential for development of rural tourism combined with hunting and fishing.
