The municipality Separeva Banya is situated in the northeastern part of Kustendil District. It is near the international transport corridor No. 4 and Doupnitsa transport center. It contains the popular tourist destinations of the Seven Rila Lakes and the Skakavitza Reserve and Waterfall. As well as the administrative center of Sapareva Banya, 15 kilometers East of Doupnitza, the municipality includes the villages of Saparevo, Resilovo, Ovchartzi and the mountain resort of Panichishte (10 km). The municipality proudly shares one third of its territory with Rila National Park, which was established in 1992. One of the most significant natural sights are the hot mineral springs. The hottest mineral spring in Europe is in Sapareva Banya - its water temperature is 103°С; here is also the only Geyser on the Balkan Peninsula, which throws a column of mineral water and vapors to a height of 18 meters every 6 seconds.
