It borders the following municipalities: Velingrad to the north, Dospat to the east, Garmen to the west and Hajidimovo and the Republic of Greece to the south. The municipality`s administrative, economic, political and cultural centre is the village of Satovcha. The Satovcha municipality encompasses parts of the valley of the Mesta River and of the southeastern part of the Dabrak Part of the Western Rhodope Mountains. The mountain or hilly relief prevails. The average altitude is 1 000 m above sea level. The highest point is the Ounden Summit - 1668 m.The climate in Satovcha region is transitional Mediterranean, with a pronounced mountain influence in the high parts. The average annual temperature is 10оС. Temperature inversions occur in winter.
