 The village of Yanovo (Blagoevgrad District) is located in South-West Bulgaria and is included in Municipality Sandanski. It is situated in south direction from Pirin Mountain in the foot of Slavyanka mountain. The village is established in XVIIIth century. During the XIXth century it is thought to be in Srumichka region with center Strumitsa, which is situated 100 km. away from the village.
During the Turkish slavery the population have been humiliated. One of the symbols of the mulishness and inflexibility of the people was the building of the local church.
At the end of XIX and the beginning of XXth century the village was a farm of hadji Lazo. During the next years people from the existing then 30 houses in Yanovo became richer and in 1927 year they bought all the land around the village. Also a new road was built among the villages Yanovo - Petrovo - Katuntsi. It created opportunities for people to build house in the upper part and the center of the village soon became in the upper part. That preserved the old part of the village till our days - The Bridje, built in the end of XIXth century, the faucet with the stone spout, the water-mill, which is almost destroyed and etc.
