Ribnovo

The village of Ribnovo (Blagoevgrad District) is located in The Rhodope mountain and is included in Municipality Gurmen. The charm of the village is in the age-old pine woods, spacious high mountain plateaus, picturesque meadows, potatoes and tobacco fields, ice-cold mountain sources, endless range of Rodopa picks. The high mountain meadows are covered with wild fruits- strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and mushrooms in the summer. The life in the village of Ribnovo is severe but original. The inhabitants are Bulgarian-speaking Muslims, sometimes referred to as "Pomaks. The Pomak Muslims are dwelling mainly in the Rhodope Mountains of South Bulgaria and North Greece. They are believed to have converted to Islam in the late 1300s
