The village of Kremen (Blagoevgrad District) is located in South-West Bulgaria and is included in Municipality Bansko. It is situated at the southern end of Banko municipality, in a stunning region of the Pirin mountain. The distance to the town of Bansko is about 29kms. Kremen village has rich and heroic history. During the Bulgarian uprising against the Turks, it was reduced to rubble and atrocities were carried out there by the Turks. Villagers in 1905 were accused of hiding Bulgarian insurgents and giving them food. As a result, a small army of Turkish troops came to the village armed with tanks of petroleum and after smashing the majority of property and stealing goods from the houses, the village was set a light.
