The Peroushtitsa Municipality is situated in the northern part of the westernmost portion of Middle Rhodopes Mountain in Plovdiv district. It is in the foot of the northern slopes of Varhovishki hill and Chernatitsa in the Western Rhodopes, at 225 m above sea level. It is at a distance of 26 km from the District Center city of Plovdiv and 25 km to the southeast of Pazadrzhik town. The municipality consists of only one town - Perоushtitsa.
In the vicinity of Peroushtitsa numerous traces and evidences of ancient cultural presence exist, such as Thracian altars in Mandzhovitsa locality, a Thracian tomb in Douhova Mogila locality. A Municipal Tourism Information Center has been set up in the Municipality. At a distance of 15 km to the south of the town is the Varhovrah resort with a well maintained lodge, restaurants and other facilities.
