It is in the foot of the northern slopes of Varhovishki hill and Chernatitsa in the Western Rhodopes, at 225 m above sea level. It is at a distance of 26 km from the District Center city of Plovdiv and 25 km to the southeast of Pazadrzhik town. The municipality consists of only one town - Perоushtitsa. In the vicinity of Peroushtitsa numerous traces and evidences of ancient cultural presence exist, such as Thracian altars in Mandzhovitsa locality, a Thracian tomb in Douhova Mogila locality. A Municipal Tourism Information Center has been set up in the Municipality. At a distance of 15 km to the south of the town is the Varhovrah resort with a well maintained lodge, restaurants and other facilities.
