Town of Kuklen (Plovdiv district) is one of the youngest towns in Bulgaria (26 May 2006). It is located at the northern foots of the Western Rhodopes Mountains, 3 km northwest of Assenovgrad, 16 km south of Plovdiv and approximately 100km south west of the bulgarian capital, Sofia. The beautiful nature and the mild climate of the region offer wonderful opportunities for relaxation and recreation away from the noisy, strenuous city. There are numerous chalets and picturesque eco tracks in the area of Kuklen, that contribute to the development of mountain tourism. The monastery "Sveti 40 muchenitsi" (Kuklen Monastery) is situated 4km south-west from village of Kouklen.
