The small town of Krichim is located in South-Central Bulgaria, province of Plovdiv. It is crossed by the beautiful Vacha river at the place where it leaves the northern slopes of the Rhodopes Mountains and heads towards the fertile Thracian valley. Krichim lies 32km to the southwest of the second biggest Bulgarian town - Plovdiv at an altitude of 230m. above sea level. Three ethnic communities – Bulgarians, Turkish and Roma – live neighbourly and cooperatively in Krichim. The history of the town starts in the 6th c. AC, when it was built as a strategic fortress, strengthened and developed by consecutive Bulgarian rulers. Remains of medieval strongholds are spread all around the city. Nowdays Krichim is town muncipality (there are no other places in structure of municipality Krichim). On the territory of the Municipality there is a mineral spring. Its water is described as isothermal low-mineralised, hydrocarbonate calcium-sodium, with no sanitary or chemical indications of contamination. Natural mineral water can be used for drinking balneotherapy and prophylactics.
