The Municipality consists of town of Strelcha and 4 villages. The town is located in the valley of the Strelchanska Louda Yana River and is situated at 110 km far from Sofia, 62 km far from Plovdiv and 41 km far from Pazardzhik. Ten dam lakes have been constructed along the river course. The terrain in undulating, the altitude above sea level varies from 500 to 1,000 m. The administrative center of the Municipality Strelcha is a balneology treatment resort of national importance. The temperature of the water of the existing mineral springs is 23 - 45°С. The climate is mountainous and moderate continental. Tourism development is a priority for Strelcha Municipality. There are favorable conditions for development also of balneology and cultural-cognitive tourism. The mineral springs are an invaluable wealth. The water is used for treatment of the locomotory system, the peripheral nervous system, gynecological and dermatological diseases. The town has an attractive sports complex and swimming pools with mineral water. Strelcha is the starting point for mountain routes in Sredna Gora Mountain, which lead to well-known historical and natural sights, such as Bounaya peak and Bogdan peak, Koprivshtitsa town and Panagyurishte town, the Thracian tomb in Starosel village and Zhaba Mogila tomb.
