The village of Bulgarska polyana (Haskovo district) is located in South-Central Bulgaria, in the skirts of Sakar Mountain, and is included in municipality Topolovgrad.

History: the village was settled in 1596 when a group of Bulgarians living in a village near Sofia killed a Turkish spahi to save a Bulgarian girl and had to run away. After a long chase they settled on the land of Bulgarska polyana and the Turkish people called the village "Gyaur alan", which means Bulgarska polyana and it kept its name until today.
