History: the village was settled in 1596 when a group of Bulgarians living in a village near Sofia killed a Turkish spahi to save a Bulgarian girl and had to run away. After a long chase they settled on the land of Bulgarska polyana and the Turkish people called the village "Gyaur alan", which means Bulgarska polyana and it kept its name until today.
Landmarks: A lot of dolmen and Thracian hills are found near the village.
