The village of Ovcharovo (Haskovo District) is located in South-Central Bulgaria on the western slopes of Sakar Mountain. It is included in Municipality Harmanli and is at distance of 16km from municipal center town of Harmanli (there is comfortable asphalt road). The old name of the village was Kulanlii and in 1906 was renamed to Ovcharovo.
Most famous landmark in the land of Ovcharovo is menhirat called "Chuchul stone", which is located next to the road in the southern edge of the village. The stone is a high 2.20m column with incorrect cone shape fixed with its thick edge in the ground. Menhirat is remarkable religious monument from the time of the Thracians, and was only saved in the whole Southeastern Europe. The exact function of menhira is not known, although it is believed is related to religious rites.
