It is administrative center of both - municipality and district with same name. Vrachanski Balkan , situated near the town, offers great opportunities for on-foot tourism. The town is a starting point for the routes to Vratsata gorge and Ledenika cave. The area has very diverse and attractive natural features, which together with the recreation opportunities gives the special charm of the Eastern part of the Northwest Bulgaria .
