 The town of Vratsa is settled in the foot of Vratsa Mountain (North-West Bulgaria) at the distance of 112 km. north of Sofia, about 40 km. southeast of Montana, and 14 km. northwest of Mezdra. It is administrative center of both - municipality and district with same name.
The Nature Park Vrachanski Balkan, situated near the town, offers great opportunities for on-foot tourism. The town is a starting point for the routes to Vratsata gorge and Ledenika cave. The area has very diverse and attractive natural features, which together with the recreation opportunities gives the special charm of the Eastern part of the Northwest Bulgaria.
