The village of Ostrov is located in Vratsa district (North-West Bulgaria), and is one of the villages from municipality Oryahovo. It is situated near Danube river, 18.63 km. east of the municipal town Oryahovo. Neigbour places of Ostrov village are villages of Galovo, Gorni Vadin and Krushovene.

History: In 1900 to 800 BC in the region was founded a Thracian settlement. In the 1st century the Romans built many roads and fortresses. The fortress near village of Island was called Pedonione (or Pedolanis). During the reign of Khan Tervel (701-718) there was constructed a trench as west border of the Bulgarian state with the Avars...
