History: The area of town Oryahovo has been inhabited since ancient times. Conducted archaeological studies demonstrate the existence of settlements from all historical periods - from the early Neolithic to the Middle Ages and nowadays. There are remarkable findings that are associated with Thracians - bronze swords and ammunition parts of the horses. Today, for the blossoming of Roman culture, evidencing the ruins of ancient castles near the villages of Leskovets (Variana fortress) and near Dolni Vadin (Valeriana).
Sightseeing: - Medieval fortress "Камака" ("The Stone") is located 600 meters west of Oryahovo. It was built in IX century at Danube as part of the fortification system of the First Bulgarian Empire. Between XII-XIV century it has been renewed and important role of protective gear. It was used after the fall under Ottoman rule till the end of XV century. From the fortress now is preserved the two-storey rectangular tower from the time of the Second Bulgarian State. The remains of the medieval building and the beautiful panoramic view to Danube river attracts many visitors. - There is a monument of Romanian soldiers died for Liberation of Bulgaria.
