Background: There is a detail from the time of Emperor Domitian, where the Romans built the first pontoon bridge between the rivers and Dolni Wadin and Orlya. By 1900 the village of Dolni Vadin was called Star (Old) Vadin. In the Ottoman registers from 1617 and 1632 the village was named Ostovadin. During Ottoman rule the village was repeatedly depopulated, but after time people returned again.
Sightseeing: - Just below the village on the Danube bank are the ruins of a Roman castle. There were found many objects from Roman times. - After the liberation in village Dolni Vadin was settled Botev`s detachment Mladen Pavlov. Nowadays his house, which is near the Roman ruins, is celebrated as a museum of Hristo Botev`s detachment. The house was donated to the Municipality of Oryahovo by Mladen Pavlov`s daughter - Cornelia.
