History: According to archaeological excavations, the first inhabitants of the territory are from 10,000 BC. In the excavation mounds have been found preserved bones of mammoths. In the land of Sofronievo were opened oldest bronze phial in the Bulgarian lands. Nearby was discovered the Rogozen treasure. There are finds of mahayri - type of sword - widespread weapons of the Thracians. Sofronievo is one of the villages through which passes Hristo Botev and his detachment.
Sightseeing: There are late medieval Church "St. Nichola", dating from the period around the XVI century. The surrounding area of Vartopa was one of the stops of the Botev detachment.
