There is a legend for the origin of the names of Pudria and other villages in the region: One grandmother had a cow. One day the cow was lost and the grandmother begun to search for it. Met some people and then asked them whether they have seen her cow and they responded "podirya, po-nagore" ("up - in this way") and from this - the name Pudria was delivered. Grandmother continued to seek and come to a place where found her cow torn. This area was named Kravoder (cow skin torn). The head of the cow fell in another area that was called Glavatsi (from Bulgarian "glava" = head) and legs in Botunia (from Bulgarian "but" = leg).
