History: The village was inhabited as early as the sixth millennium BC There are remains of a burials - clay burial urns and gold ornaments from the Bronze Age (late fourth millennium BC). There were found coins from the Roman Empire, pottery from the First Bulgarian Kingdom and the necropolis of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom.
By Decree No 191 of the Presidium of the National Assembly (SG 95/22 April 1950 ), the village was renamed Mihailovo the name of Michael Kanchev - active functionary of the Communist Party and a regional leader of the September Uprising 1923.
Sightseeing: - There are Memorial of the Died for the Liberation of Bulgaria. - Ogosta River passes through the village, and its sands can be compared with sands on the Black Sea coast. - Between the villages of Mikhailovo and Septemvriytsi is situated a dam suitable for recreation and fishing. - The church in the Mihailovo is one of the most beautiful in Bulgaria.
