History: The current village is situated on the cultural layers of ancient Thracian settlement. A Thracian mound necropolis was discovered in the vineyards above the village. A mound necropolis was discovered also to the east of the village after the sand quarry. The name Botevo is derived from the Bulgarian poet and revolutionary Hristo Botev. Once he got off the coast of Kozloduy from Radetzky boat, his way to the Vractsa Balkan passes near the village (side about 2.5 km. east). The rumour for the poet - revolutionary who wants to liberate Bulgaria from the Turks, spread everywhere, and therefore village was named Botevo.
Sightseeing: - There is a warm mineral spring between the villages of Botevo and Hajredin, whose waters have a sulfur content and treat various diseases. - In the woods near the village is located Samodivski well.
