History: Since 1864 the village housed a significant number Circassian families, refugees from the Caucasus. Therefore, before the Liberation the village was named Barzinski Circassians or Barzinski sovat. Circassians from the village are among the most active participants in the chase of Botev rebels in May 1876. After 1878, according to the Berlin peace treaty, Circassians emigrated from the village and with a decree 161 from 25.06.1884, the village was name Botyovo. In 1956 its name was changed to Barzina.
