History: According to one version the village name derives from "Stara" ("Old") and "paditsa" because once the village had an inn where travelers arrived so tired that they fell (in Bulgarian "padam") to sleep directly. The local villagers have migrated from the Teteven region.
Sightseeing: - The village is located on the territory of a former coral reef seas. The river can be found fossilized coral. - There are various archaeological findings around the village where there were Roman and Turkish villages and a Roman fortress.
