Yakimovo Municipality is situated in northwestern Bulgaria in Montana District. It borders on the municipalities of Lom, Valchedram, Boychinovtsi, Broussartsi and Montana. The climate is moderate continental. The average altitude above sea level is 139 m. The Tsibritsa River is the largest river flowing through it. The Municipality is comprised of villages only and its territory is not densely populated. Agriculture and foodstuffs industry are the economic sectors that have the largest potential for development, because the Municipality is situated completely in an agricultural region. There are two Thracian tomb mounds in the land of the Municipality of Yakimovo. A silver Thracian treasure has been found, as well as an antique fortress.
