The village of Georgi Damyanovo (Montana District) is located in North-West Bulgaria and is administrative center of Georgi Damyanovo Municipality. It is situated at the foot of the Western Balkan Mountains, with the Ogosta river running nearby, 20 kilometres away from town of Montana and 136 kilometres from the capital city of Sofia. The old name of the village was Lopushna, but it was renamed in honour of the politician Georgi Damyanov (1892-1958), who was born there. The area of the municipality is recognized as one of the most ecologically pure in relation to the country.
