History of the town: Slivo pole is mentioned in 1656 with the name Slivolik. In the early 19 century, after the plague, the first settlers were established at present place of Slivo Pole (Kyoseler mahale). After the Crimean War there were settled also Tatars. In 1863 there came Bulgarians from Ruse and Romania to live in the village, then named Byuyuk Islepol. In 1956 village of Slivitsa (with name Kaya mahle till 1934.) was merged with Slivo Pole.
The village is declared as town of Slivo Pole at 29 November 2002.
