The village of Pirgovo is located in North-Central Bulgaria near Danube river. The village is included in Municipality Ivanovo (Rousse District). It is situated 16km south-west from district center city of Ruse. The origin of the name Pirgovo is the Greek word "pirgos" (castle/tower/citadel). There are ancient ruins at 3 km from the village.
