The town of Levski is located in North-Central Bulgaria in Pleven district. It is municipal center of the municiaplity wich includes more 12 villages. Town of Levski is situated in the valley of the Osam River and was called Karagach (Turkish for "red elm") during the Ottoman rule of Bulgaria and until 1897, when it was renamed after the Bulgarian national hero Vasil Levski. The village was proclaimed a town in 1945, reportedly the first to become one after World War II in Bulgaria.
