The town of Sevlievo (Gabrovo district) is located at the road between Sofia and Varna near the Rositsa River and across the mountain, which welcomes its visitors with the freshness of air, with the lovely fragrance of flowers, the coolness of forests, and the magnificence of peaks.
The earliest traces of life in the region date back to the late neolithic period (about 8000 years B.C.). There are still some Thracian tombs left.
Sevlievo began to develop as an administrative, military, strategic and economic centre during the 10th century. Nowdays it is an administrative centre of a county in Gabrovo province. Modern Sevlievo is a well developed industrial centre.
